Alfalfa Haus is a members-only living community for young professionals. Members are admitted through an application process. If accepted, Alfalfa Haus grants its members access to a living space with friends, industry leaders as mentors, exclusive networking events, and career-boosting resources. Alfalfa Haus initially aims to establish a single residence for its members, with subsequent plans for expansion to multiple houses across the United States. The mission of Alfalfa Haus is twofold: to advance the careers of ambitious young professionals and to foster meaningful connections among the younger generation, addressing the societal disconnection created by the pandemic.
The Problem
Alfalfa Haus’ logo was created with a few things in mind. They requested a logomark that was stately, elegant, and sophisticated while maintaining scalability. It needed to convey a sense of integrity, intellectuality, and growth. It was important that Alfalfa Haus’ logomark inspired a sense of prestige and desirability to its target audience of young entrepreneurs aged 21-26 y/o.
The Solution
The shield or coat of arms signifies protection and confidence as a way to represent Alfalfa’s ambitious community. Each alfalfa leaf sprouting from the shield is symbolic of Alfalfa’s three fundamental offerings: housing, mentorship, and a robust community. Fun fact: The alfalfa plant is one of the only plants that will extend 20 ft deep to retrieve water. With this in mind, I designed the alfalfa leaves and routes in a way that conveyed reaching for new heights. As a bonus, if the logomark is flipped, it looks like the alfalfa routes are uplifting a house.
